IN THE KITCHEN :: Breakfast Poridge

My favorite way to eat oatmeal comes from a recipe in Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon.  Soaking the oats overnight makes them easier to digest.  This is my favorite Yogurt to use for the overnight soak. Oh so yummy!  What is your family's favorite breakfast?

First: sitting unassisted

When she's not rolling from one end of the room to the other, you'll find this sweet chickadee sitting happily unassisted.  She's been perfecting this new talent for about a week now.  Not bad for 5 months!

First: real laugh

L's first real laugh was on 8/13/11.  I got her up from her nap and was bouncing her in my arms and she began to laugh a little.  Luckily R was home and she was still doing it when I went upstairs to show him.  She sounded so big!

Fun with Atticus

Here are some fun photos I took last night of Lydia with Atticus.  Robert had her propped up over his back, it was so cute!Their first real interaction aside from sniffing and a few puppy kisses.  So glad both the dogs are super tolerant of kids, they'll be great buddies for her to grow up with.

He kept moving to check her out and she'd tip over.  Whoa puppy! (ok so maybe he's not exactly puppy size anymore but he'll always be a puppy to me)
Notice she's sporting her Great Dane pride.
 Snuggle buddies.
Bracing for a slobbery kiss.

A few flowers from my garden

 Forget-Me-Not
 Delphinium
HollyHocks.  You can't really tell in the picture, but they are HUGE! One of the stalks is literally 10 feet tall.
More Hollyhocks.  One of my favorite flowers ever since we had them growing in our garden in England.
I love the colors of this Delphinium.  They are really small this year, but probably because it is the first.  Honestly, I wasn't sure if they would bloom this summer or not.
Sunflower.  Sadly only one plant made it.  I may have started the seeds too early so they were leggy to begin with, then with a new baby I forgot to water them enough.

Dads

On my walk with Lydia today there was a mama bird on the ground with her baby chick teaching it how to fly.  Very sweet.  behind me there was another mom walking with her kids and I heard the little boy ask "where is the daddy bird?"  This got me to thinking just how important dads are, and that children need them just as much as moms.  Thank you Robert for already being such a great dad, Lydia is a lucky little girl to have you :)

2 months

Lydia turned two months old today.  At her appointment she weighed 11 pounds 6 ounces and measured 25 inches.  I can't believe how much she's grown in such a short time.  Every day I'm amazed by how beautiful and sweet she is.  We are so blessed to have her in our family.
